5 out of 5 stars Eye-opening and inspiring!   September 29, 2008
R. Big Canoe (Georgina Island, Canada)
After reading this book, I felt like I had to tell everyone about it! This is an incredible story that will make you want to take action and make the world a better place. Greg Mortenson deserves to be recognized so that the war on terrorism can be fought peacefully-by teachers armed with pencils and books!

5 out of 5 stars One person can really make a difference   September 14, 2008
Vahid (Canada)
As someone who grew up in Middle East I could really connect to the story of this great book. The message of the book is clear: the world would be a better place if we properly educate our children. The book tries to make this point by telling the story of children and people in Pakistan and Afghanistan. But what is more important to me is that it tries to educate people all around the world in another sense: that people, no matter where they are, deserve to be treated with respect. Lies that spread around by politicians and labels they stick to a country or people of a country reflects only an unjust image of that country to the world. The truth must be heard from ordinary people like Greg Mortenson who tell the story with no political ties or motivation. If the world sees itself the way Greg has seen Pakistan and Afghanistan it will truly be a better place.

5 out of 5 stars Required reading   September 14, 2008
a concerned canadian
Three Cups of Tea should be required reading for everyone.... it helps to better understand the daily dose of sobering news from Pakistan and Afghanistan - and offers a glimmer of practical hope.

5 out of 5 stars Bridging the gap of cultures letting us know that we all want peace   September 9, 2008
Magda (Ontario, Canada)
I have just finished this book. I am now more hopeful than ever that we will see peace one day. This book tells me so. If you have ever doubted the TV news, newspaper stories, or big flashy magazines spreads about "terrorism" - that we weren't getting the whole story, then this book will surely bring you closer to the truth. The truth being, poor, uneducated, vulnerable people of this world are being taken advantage of for greedy reasons: power. This book tells us that education is the answer to peace and I truly believe it - "ignorance is not bliss".
